On day two of your 7-day Marrakech to Fes tour, you’ll explore the “red city’s” highlights with a local guide after breakfast. Typically, you’ll start with the serene Majorelle and Menara Gardens, learning their history, including Majorelle’s French artist creator. Next, you’ll experience the impressive Moroccan architecture of Bahia and El Badi Palaces. You’ll also see the unique Saadian Tombs, showcasing the city’s past. The iconic Koutoubia Mosque with its ancient, towering minaret is another stop. Finally, the vibrant Jamaa El Fna square will captivate your evening.

Today, after breakfast, your journey to Boumalne Dades begins with a drive across the High Atlas Mountains. You’ll travel the 200km Tichka pass, a winding route reaching approximately 2260m, offering a gateway through the mountains towards the desert. From the Tichka pass, enjoy stunning Atlas Mountain views before continuing southeast to Ait Benhaddou. Here, you’ll have time to explore the impressive Ksar, a former key point for traders and caravans, after crossing the river. Later today, you’ll visit Ouarzazate, Morocco’s “Ouallywood,” the only southeastern city with an international airport. Here, you’ll tour the Atlas Studios, a major attraction and film production hub. Afterwards, the journey continues to Rose Valley and Kalaat Mgouna, famous for their cosmetic products. The day concludes with your arrival in Boumalne Dades, driving through local Berber towns and scenic valleys en route. You’ll stay overnight there.

Day four of your 7-day Marrakech to Fes tour, via Merzouga, features a major highlight: the desert. En route, you’ll explore impressive sites like the 300m high Toudgha (or Toudra) canyons, perfect for climbers, and pass through towns like Tinghir and Tinejdad. Time permitting, you might also see Erfoud or Rissani. Finally, you’ll reach the Merzouga desert and meet your waiting camels. Experienced guides will assist you for a scenic trek across the golden dunes. You’ll aim to watch the sunset either from the camp or on the way. Upon arrival at the desert camp, enjoy sandboarding, a delicious Moroccan dinner, and Berber drum music under the vast, starry sky.

Day five of your 7-day Marrakech tour is all about the desert’s surroundings. You can start with an optional early climb to watch the stunning sunrise over the dunes. Back at camp, enjoy a shower and breakfast. Afterward, a 4×4 will take you across the desert to meet the local Berber Nomads, Merzouga’s original inhabitants, who still live in tents and sustain themselves by herding goats and sheep, selling them in nearby markets like Erfoud and Rissani. Next, you’ll explore M’Ifiss, home to one of the region’s oldest kohl mines. Then, you’ll experience the unique panoramic views from Glb Nass, meaning “the people’s heart.” A short drive will bring you to Khamlia village, about 4km from Merzouga, offering a different way of life. The Gnawa people are a significant draw here, known for their annual three-day Gnawa festival showcasing their culture and rhythms. You’ll visit Dar Gnaoua to learn their history and listen to their music. Finally, you’ll see the Moroccan National Auto Museum, owned by an Emirati, featuring a collection of vintage 4×4 vehicles.

On day six of your 7-day Marrakech tour, your destination is the cultural heart of Fes, where the tour concludes. After breakfast at your camp or hotel, a short 30-40 minute drive will take you to Erfoud, renowned for its fascinating fossils. From there, you’ll continue towards the Errachidia dam, a vital water source for this arid region and the Errachidia province. Your journey to Fes will then proceed, passing through the charming cities of Midelt and Zaida, where you’ll stop for lunch.
