Day 1: Arrival in Fes
Our 7-day desert tour from Fes begins with an airport pickup at Fes Sais. We’ll ensure you settle into a traditional riad, and depending on when you arrive, we might even start exploring some of Fes’s attractions.
Day 2: Fes guided tour
Day two of your 7-day desert journey from Fes to Marrakech is dedicated to exploring the imperial city of Fes. After breakfast at your hotel or riad, a local Fes guide will lead you through the city’s highlights. Discover numerous fascinating sites, including the Chouara Tannery, the ancient Medina, and the University of Al-Qarawiyyin.
Fes, a city steeped in Moroccan history, invites you to step back in time as you wander through its old Medina and uncover its rich past. You’ll then visit the Chouara Tannery, the largest in Fes and Morocco, where you can witness the traditional crafting and coloring of leather goods. Following this, you’ll have the chance to see Al-Qarawiyyin University, founded by Fatima Al-Fihri and considered the world’s oldest university. Your exploration will also include other notable areas like the Bab Bou Jeloud and the Mellah (Jewish quarter).
Day 3: Fes to Merzouga Sahara desert
Our third day on the 7-day Fes to Marrakech tour leads us to the mesmerizing Merzouga desert dunes. We’ll begin by traveling through the Middle Atlas, stopping at the picturesque town of Ifrane, known as the “Swiss of Morocco” for its distinct European feel. We’ll explore some of its attractions, including the Atlas Lion statue.
The journey continues through Midelt and Zaida, where we’ll have lunch. We’ll then traverse the Tizi Ntlghmt pass, arriving at Morocco’s largest valley with its panoramic views, making it a key stop. Our final destination for the day is Merzouga.
In Merzouga, you’ll experience a camel trek across the impressive golden sand dunes. This evening will be truly special, featuring a beautiful sunset, a dazzling night sky, and an introduction to Berber culture through their traditional music and dances.
Day 4 : Merzouga to Boumalne Dades
After breakfast at the desert camp on day four, those who wish can wake early to enjoy a magnificent sunrise. We’ll then take a morning camel trek back to our starting location. Our onward journey by vehicle will lead us through a variety of captivating towns and landscapes as we make our way to Boumalne Dades for the night.
Our itinerary includes stops at the delightful towns of Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalte and the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty, and Erfoud, a significant center for date cultivation and fossil production. We’ll also pass through Tinjedad and Tinghir, ultimately reaching the breathtaking Todra Gorges, a highlight of southeastern Morocco with its dramatic 300-meter-high canyon walls.
Day 5: Boumalne Dades to Marrakech
Today, the fifth day of our 7-day Fes to Marrakech adventure, we travel to the famous “Red City” of Marrakech. Our stops today offer a distinct change of scenery. First, we’ll explore Ouarzazate, whose Berber name means “without noise” and which has earned the nickname “Moroccan Hollywood” due to its importance in the film industry. Here, you can tour the Atlas film studios.
A highlight of the day will be a visit to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, widely regarded as one of Morocco’s most beautiful, showcasing incredible clay architecture at the edge of the High Atlas Mountains.
Our route from Boumalne Dades to Marrakech will also take us through other stunning locations, including the Teleouat Kasbah, the scenic Tizi Ntichka pass (offering remarkable views from around 2260m), and the fragrant Rose Valley, providing a particularly impressive vantage point of the winding Tichka road.
Day 6: Marrakech guided tour
On the sixth day of our Fes adventure, we’ll fully immerse ourselves in the wonders of Marrakech. We’ll provide a local guided tour to help you thoroughly explore the city and learn more about traveling in Morocco.
Our itinerary includes must-see sites like the famous Jamaa El-Fna Square and the Koutoubia Mosque, which are close by. You’ll also experience the beauty of the Majorelle, Menara, and Secret Gardens, as well as the grandeur of the Bahia Palace, the historical Saadian Tombs, and the Mellah (Jewish quarter).
Day 7: Departure to the airport
As our wonderful 7-day tour from Fes to Marrakech, featuring the Merzouga desert, comes to an end, we will arrange your transfer to the airport.
