    Itinerary

    6-Day Morocco Tour from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou – Dades Valley

Your private driver will meet you at your hotel or riad in Marrakech to start your journey toward the southeast of Morocco. Travel through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), and enjoy panoramic views of Berber villages and valleys. Stop at Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its ancient mud-brick architecture and film history. Continue to Ouarzazate, the ‘Hollywood of Africa,’ and then through the Valley of Roses before arriving in the Dades Valley, known for its beautiful rock formations and winding roads carved by the Dades River.

Day 2: Dades – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, continue your trip through the Todra Gorges, where steep red cliffs rise up to 300 meters. This area is one of Morocco’s most stunning natural landscapes and a great spot to take photos and enjoy a short walk. You will then pass through Tinghir and Erfoud, a town famous for fossils and dates, before reaching Merzouga in the afternoon. Your private driver will take you to the meeting point, where you will meet the camp owner who will transfer you to your desert camp, located at the edge of the Erg Chebbi Dunes.

    Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Ifrane – Fes

After breakfast, leave the desert and drive north toward Fes. You will pass through Erfoud and the scenic Ziz Valley, surrounded by thousands of palm trees and ancient kasbahs. Continue through Midelt, located between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, and stop at the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to the Barbary macaques. Later, visit Ifrane, a clean, modern city known as the ‘Little Switzerland’ of Morocco because of its European-style architecture. Arrive in Fes by evening.

Day 4: Free Day to Explore Fes

Spend the day exploring Fes, one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can visit the Royal Palace, the Jewish Quarter (Mellah), and the Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest continuously operating university in the world. Wander through the narrow streets of the old medina, filled with markets, tanners, and traditional workshops. Your private driver will be available for short transfers within the city if needed.

    Day 5: Fes – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, your private driver will take you north toward Chefchaouen, the famous ‘Blue Pearl of Morocco.’ You’ll travel through the Rif Mountains, enjoying the peaceful scenery and small villages along the way. Upon arrival, you’ll have the afternoon free to explore this charming town. Walk through the blue-painted alleys, visit the Kasbah Museum, or relax in Outa el Hammam Square, surrounded by cafés and local life. For a beautiful sunset view, walk up to the Spanish Mosque for a panoramic look over the entire city — a perfect way to end your day in Chefchaouen.

    Day 6: Chefchaouen – Tangier

After breakfast, depart Chefchaouen and head north toward Tangier, passing through scenic mountain roads. Tangier is a historic port city that connects Africa and Europe and is known for its lively culture and beautiful coastal views. Your private driver will drop you off at your hotel or Tangier Airport, marking the end of your 6-day journey across Morocco’s desert, mountains, and blue cities.

    FAQ
    6-Day Morocco Tour from Marrakech

What is the difference between a private driver and a tour guide?

A private driver is responsible for your transportation, comfort, and logistics, getting you safely from one location to another. They can provide general information and recommendations. An official local guide is licensed to accompany you inside monuments and museums, providing detailed historical and cultural context. For a deeper understanding in cities like Fes and Marrakech, we can arrange a local guide for a few hours at an additional cost.

How much free time and flexibility is there on this tour?

This itinerary is designed with significant flexibility. The driving routes and overnight stops are fixed, but your time in each location is yours to control. You can choose which sites to visit, how long to spend there, and where to eat. Your driver is there to facilitate your plans, not to rush you through a rigid schedule.

What is the recommended dress code for visiting mosques and religious sites?

When visiting mosques and other religious sites, modest dress is required for both men and women. This typically means covering shoulders, chest, and knees. While the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca is more lenient with tourists, it still maintains a dress code. Carrying a scarf is a good idea for women. Your driver can provide specific guidance before each visit.

From Cities to the Sahara - Unforgettable!

This tour packs in so much! One day you’re in the chaotic beauty of Fes, and the next you’re watching the sunset over the Sahara. The drive through the Atlas Mountains is worth the trip alone. We loved the flexibility of having a driver; it felt like a road trip with a knowledgeable friend. The included hotels were charming and authentic. Highly recommend!

      Perfect for Independent Travelers

As a couple who likes to explore on our own, this was the ideal tour. We had the structure and ease of a driver handling the long distances and logistics, but the freedom to choose what we wanted to see and do in each city. The highlight was definitely the journey from the cedar forests down to the desert. An amazing way to see Morocco without the stress of driving yourself.
