Your private driver will meet you at your hotel or the Casablanca Airport and begin the journey to Fes. The first stop is Rabat, Morocco’s capital city. You can visit the Hassan Tower, an unfinished minaret built in the 12th century, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a beautiful example of modern Moroccan architecture. You can also stop by the Kasbah of the Oudayas, a peaceful neighborhood with blue and white houses overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After visiting Rabat, continue driving toward Fes, arriving in the late afternoon.
Enjoy a full day exploring Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital. The old medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most fascinating in the world, full of narrow alleys, markets, and traditional workshops. You can visit Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest functioning university in the world, as well as the Bou Inania Madrasa, Royal Palace gates, and Jewish Quarter (Mellah). Your private driver will be available for short transfers within the city if needed.
After breakfast, your private driver will take you south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is Ifrane, known for its alpine-style houses and clean streets. Continue to Azrou, where you can see Barbary macaques in the Cedar Forest. Drive through Midelt, then descend into the Ziz Valley, famous for its palm trees and oases. Arrive in Merzouga by afternoon, a small town on the edge of the Erg Chebbi Dunes.
Leave Merzouga after breakfast and travel to Tinghir, a small desert town surrounded by palm groves. Stop at the Todra Gorges, where tall red cliffs rise up to 300 meters on both sides of a narrow river valley — a perfect place for photos and short walks. Continue your journey to the Dades Valley, known for its winding road and unique rock formations.
Today, you will cross the High Atlas Mountains on your way to Marrakech. Stop first in Ouarzazate, known as the ‘Hollywood of Africa’ for its famous film studios. Then visit Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful fortified villages in Morocco. Continue through the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, arriving in Marrakech by evening.

A private driver is responsible for your transportation, comfort, and logistics, getting you safely from one location to another. They can provide general information and recommendations. An official local guide is licensed to accompany you inside monuments and museums, providing detailed historical and cultural context. For a deeper understanding in cities like Fes and Marrakech, we can arrange a local guide for a few hours at an additional cost.
This itinerary is designed with significant flexibility. The driving routes and overnight stops are fixed, but your time in each location is yours to control. You can choose which sites to visit, how long to spend there, and where to eat. Your driver is there to facilitate your plans, not to rush you through a rigid schedule.
When visiting mosques and other religious sites, modest dress is required for both men and women. This typically means covering shoulders, chest, and knees. While the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca is more lenient with tourists, it still maintains a dress code. Carrying a scarf is a good idea for women. Your driver can provide specific guidance before each visit.

Our driver, Karim, was the heart of this trip. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and a very safe driver. Having a private car gave us the freedom to stop for photos whenever we wanted and adjust the day slightly. The itinerary is perfectly paced to see the incredible diversity of Morocco. A truly first-class experience!”

This tour packs in so much! One day you’re in the chaotic beauty of Fes, and the next you’re watching the sunset over the Sahara. The drive through the Atlas Mountains is worth the trip alone. We loved the flexibility of having a driver; it felt like a road trip with a knowledgeable friend. The included hotels were charming and authentic. Highly recommend!
As a couple who likes to explore on our own, this was the ideal tour. We had the structure and ease of a driver handling the long distances and logistics, but the freedom to choose what we wanted to see and do in each city. The highlight was definitely the journey from the cedar forests down to the desert. An amazing way to see Morocco without the stress of driving yourself.
