Day one of our 4-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour takes us to Boumalne Dades. We’ll travel through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka pass, with stops at Argan oil cooperatives, Berber villages, and cafes. A key stop will be the picturesque UNESCO site of Ait Benhaddou. Next, we’ll visit Ouarzazate (“Ouallywood”) and an Atlas film studio. Our route then follows the Road of 1000 Kasbahs, passing through the palm-filled landscapes of Skoura, Amridhil, and the Rose Valley, before we reach Gorges Dades for dinner and the night.

After breakfast, we’ll journey towards the desert, driving through the picturesque Dades Gorges and its palm oases. Our next stops are Tinghir and Tinjedad, leading us to the magnificent Todra Gorges, where you can walk and explore the towering 300-meter canyons. We then travel to Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalte and the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, where you’ll have the chance to visit an ancient traditional souk, and perhaps the unique donkeys park if it’s a market day. Our final destination for today is the Erg Chebbi Sahara. We’ll arrive, mount camels, and trek across the golden dunes to our desert camp, enjoying the sunset along the way. At the camp, you can relax with mint tea or watch the sunset from the dunes before enjoying dinner and Berber music around a campfire.

Our third day of the 4-day Marrakech to Fes tour is a desert discovery excursion by 4×4. We’ll begin by visiting Berber Nomads to learn about their traditional lifestyle of living in tents and herding animals. Afterward, we’ll explore the former kohl mine of Mifiss. Our journey continues to Khamlia, a village near Merzouga inhabited by the Gnaoua people, who, despite adopting the Berber language, have maintained their unique cultural heritage. Today’s exploration also includes the panoramic views of Glb Nass, the Emirati 4×4 museum, and desert oases. In the evening, you can choose to either ride camels back to the desert camp for another night or stay at a hotel in Merzouga.

The final day of our 4-day Marrakech to Fes desert adventure has arrived. Depending on your accommodation choice, we’ll either start with a brief camel ride from the camp or begin after breakfast at your hotel. Our journey towards Fes takes us through Merzouga, Erfoud, and Errachidia, where we’ll pause to appreciate the Ziz Valley, renowned for its date production, and the significant Errachidia Dam. We’ll then navigate the Tizi Ntlghmt curves and the Zaabal Tunnel before stopping for lunch in either Midelt or Zaida. Our afternoon includes a visit to the cedar forest in Azrou, where we can observe the Barbary Macaques, followed by a stop in Ifrane, the “Little Switzerland” of Morocco, to see the Atlas lion statue. Our tour culminates with our arrival in Fes, Morocco’s cultural capital.
