Get ready for an incredible adventure with Morocco Sahara Path! Our 2-day desert trip from Fes to Merzouga is an experience you won’t forget.

The drive itself is full of amazing sights, and we’ll make sure to stop and see the best parts. First, we’ll visit the famously clean city of Ifrane, where you can check out the lion statue and get a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains.

Next, we’ll drive through a cedar forest where you’ll get to meet some friendly wild monkeys. They’re not shy, so you can feed them and snap some great pictures! After a stop for lunch, we’ll have one more quick stop near a large dam in Errachidia before finally arriving in Merzouga.

Once we get to the desert, the real fun begins! You’ll get to ride a camel into the dunes and spend the night camping in traditional Berber tents under a sky full of stars.

Itinerary:

Day 1: The Road to Merzouga with beautiful sceneries :

Ready for a desert adventure? We’ll kick off our 2-day tour from Fes to Merzouga right from your hotel or riad. Our driver will meet you there, and then we’re off on an incredible journey through the Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is in Imouzar, where you can grab breakfast and take in some amazing mountain views. After that, we’ll head to Ifrane, known as one of the cleanest cities in the world. We’ll stop to see the famous Atlas lion statue—it was actually carved by a German prisoner during World War II to earn his freedom! Next, we’ll visit the Cedar forest of Azrou. This is where you’ll get to meet some friendly Barbary Macaque monkeys. They’re not shy, so you’ll have plenty of time to feed them and take photos before we continue our drive toward Errachidia. We’ll make a quick stop at the Errachidia Dam if you’d like—it’s the main water source for the whole area, including Merzouga. Finally, we’ll arrive at the dunes of Merzouga. You’ll meet our camel guides and start your trek into the beautiful Erg Chebbi sand dunes. We can even stop to catch the sunset if we’re not at the camp yet! When you get to the camp, your luggage will already be waiting for you in your tent. After a delicious dinner, our Berber team will put on a show with drums and a bonfire under the starry desert sky. It’s the perfect way to end an unforgettable day!

Day 2: Merzouga back to Fes :

You’ll want to wake up early to catch the stunning sunrise over the dunes. After that, you have a choice: either ride camels or take a 4×4 back to where the journey started. On our way back to Fes, we’ll make a couple of quick stops in Erfoud. First, we can check out the local date market to see all the different kinds of fruits available. Then, we’ll visit the mineral and fossil museum. Finally, we’ll arrive back in Fes, which marks the end of our 2-day desert tour.

What an incredible experience! The journey through the Atlas Mountains was gorgeous, and getting to meet the monkeys in the cedar forest was a fun surprise.
