Experience an incredible 2-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech with Morocco Sahara Path. The drive from Fes to Merzouga is filled with beautiful landscapes, and we’ll make several stops along the way. For instance, we’ll visit Ifrane, known as Morocco’s cleanest city, where you can see the Atlas Lion statue and enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding Atlas Mountains forest.

We’ll also stop at the cedar forest, home to various wildlife, including monkeys. These animals are quite bold and often approach the road to interact with people. In Azrou, you’ll have the chance to observe, feed, and photograph these monkeys.

After lunch, we’ll continue driving and make a stop near the Hassan Addakhil Dam in Errachidia, a crucial water source for the Sahara.

Upon arrival in Merzouga, you’ll enjoy a camel ride and spend the night in traditional Berber tents.

On the second day, we’ll drive to Marrakech, passing by the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, which marks the end of our tour.

Day 1: Fes to Merzouga with beautiful sceneries :

Our 2-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech begins with a pickup from your accommodation. Our driver will meet you at your riad/hotel once you provide us with your location. We’ll then drive through the Atlas Mountains, with our first stop at Imouzar for stunning mountain views and a possible breakfast break. Next, we’ll head to Ifrane, recognized as the second cleanest city in the world (after Calgary, Canada) and the cleanest in Morocco. Here, we’ll stop to see the Atlas Lion statue, carved by a German prisoner during World War II to secure his release from the French. Our next stop will be at the Cedar Forest in Azrou, where you’ll have free time to observe and photograph the Barbary Macaque monkeys, one of the native animal species of the Atlas Mountains. We will feed them and take some pictures before departing for Midelt and Errachidia. In Errachidia, you’ll have the option to stop and admire a breathtaking view of the dam that serves as the water source for Merzouga and surrounding areas. Our journey continues to the charming town of Merzouga, where our camel guides will be waiting with the camels at the edge of the dunes. From there, you’ll begin your trek across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, with a stop planned for sunset if you don’t arrive at the camp too early. Upon reaching the camp, you’ll find your luggage at your designated tent. After dinner, our Berber team will provide entertainment with traditional drumming and a bonfire under the beautiful starry sky.

Day 2: Fes to Marrakech:

We’ll depart from Merzouga early in the morning for Marrakech, a drive of approximately 9 hours with planned stops. Our journey will include a visit to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, the Glaoui Berber fortress, where we will also have lunch. We will then drive through the Atlas Mountains, making brief stops for scenic viewpoints. Time permitting, we can also visit an argan oil cooperative if you’re interested in purchasing some.
