2 days tour from Marrakech to Zagora desert

Our awesome 2-day desert adventure from Marrakech kicks off bright and early at 8:00 AM! We’ll pick you up right from your hotel or even the airport in Marrakech. Get ready for an amazing first day where we’ll explore the incredible Ait Ben Haddou palace, experience a fun camel ride in Zagora, and spend a magical night under the stars at a desert camp. First off, we’ll journey through the majestic High Atlas Mountains, which are often capped with snow in winter – a truly stunning sight! We’ll wind our way up to the Tizi N Tichka pass, a whopping 2260 meters above sea level. Trust us, the views along the way are breathtaking – think sparkling rivers, lush green mountains, and charming Berber villages dotting the landscape. After cruising along the Telouet pass, we’ll make plenty of stops so you can snap some fantastic photos of the traditional Berber villages. Once we arrive at the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, you can choose whether to dive straight into exploring the Kasbah or grab a bite to eat first – it’s up to you! Ait Ben Haddou is a super important historical spot, as it used to be a key stop for African caravans heading to Marrakech and the north for trade. Back in the day, the Ben Haddou tribe, who founded this place, had over 5000 people living within the walls of the Kasbah! As we cross the bridge, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the Ounila Valley and its river, which was the sole water source for the tribe in the past, stretching for about 20 kilometers. After soaking in these vistas, we’ll climb the stairs to reach the very top of the Kasbah. Keep an eye out for a small room that once belonged to the leader, Ben Haddou. Along the way, you might even meet some local artists who use a unique technique of mixing sugar and tea for their paintings. From Ait Ben Haddou, our adventure continues through the rugged Anti Atlas mountains as we make our way to Zagora. Here, get ready for an unforgettable experience – a camel ride as the sun begins to set, followed by a night at a traditional nomad camp. To top it all off, the friendly Berber staff at the camp will treat you to traditional music and a mesmerizing show under the vast, starry desert sky.

Rise and shine early on the second day to catch a breathtaking desert sunrise – it’s totally worth it! After a delicious and energizing breakfast, we’ll begin our journey back from Zagora towards Marrakech. Our route takes us through the Anti Atlas mountains once more, offering you another chance to soak in the stunning, far-reaching views of the green mountains and charming villages. As we arrive in the city of Ouarzazate, your knowledgeable driver/guide will make a stop at the famous Oscar film studios. These studios have really put Ouarzazate on the map over the past two decades. Inside, you’ll explore different sets and areas, each with its own unique theme, like the prison, the bank, the castle, and more! Loads of big Hollywood productions, including classics like Cleopatra and Alexander, have been filmed right here. Our visit will cover all the fascinating parts of the studio, and you’ll have about an hour to explore and discover all the movie magic. Once we’ve had our fill of the film world, we’ll continue our drive back through the majestic High Atlas mountains and over the Tizi N Tichka pass again. Finally, we’ll arrive back in Marrakech, where our wonderful 2-day desert adventure comes to an end.
