Our awesome 4-day trip from Marrakech to Merzouga kicks off with us picking you up right from where you’re staying. First things first, we’ll swing by an argan oil cooperative and then cruise along those cool Tissdrine curves. We’ll definitely be making a few stops along the way, including one at a viewpoint that’s a whopping 2260 meters high! Next up is the incredible Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou – it used to be one of the Glaoui family’s strongholds. And hey, if you’re up for it, we can also check out one of the Atlas film studios in Ouarzazate. After that, we’ll keep going along the famous road of a thousand Kasbahs until we reach the beautiful Rose Valley and then Dades. Oh yeah, and we’ll get to see those quirky “Monkey Toes” rock formations and the Tissdrine curves again before we settle into our riad for the night in Dades.

Today, we’ll leave Dades and head towards the Sahara! Our drive will take us through Tinghir, where we’ll have the chance to explore the breathtaking Todgha Gorges. Picture this: towering canyon walls reaching up to 300 meters high, with a river flowing gently through them – it’s quite a sight! Continuing our journey, we’ll pass through the towns of Tinjdad, Jerf, and Erfoud. In Erfoud, we’ll make a special stop at the local date market (Souk). Trust us, they have some of the best dates you’ll ever taste, with all sorts of delicious varieties. Erfoud is also famous for its ancient mineral fossils, so we’ll even squeeze in a visit to one of the fascinating fossil museums. As the day progresses, we’ll drive towards Merzouga, and get ready for your first glimpse of the majestic Erg Chebbi sand dunes – we’ll definitely pause for some photo opportunities! The unforgettable camel ride into the desert and our overnight stay in traditional Berber tents are planned for the following day, after we’ve had the chance to connect with the local nomad communities.

Today’s all about soaking up the Sahara vibes! We’ll kick off our desert exploration with a visit to a cool car museum owned by a Qatari collector. Next up is Khamlia, a charming village where the local black community warmly welcomes visitors with their vibrant Gnaoua music. Our Merzouga adventure then takes us to the historic Mifis Mine, once a source of gold and kohl. After that, we’ll have a unique opportunity to meet with Berber nomad families, see their traditional camel wool tents, and learn about their fascinating way of life. Later, we’ll head to Srij Lake, just a short distance from Merzouga village. It’s a special place where the camels often roam when they’re not working, and you might even spot some elegant flamingoes there! Finally, as the day draws to a close, get ready for an unforgettable experience: a camel trek across the stunning Erg Chebbi dunes. We’ll then take you to our cozy Berber camp nestled in the heart of the desert for a magical night under the stars.

Today, we’ll have an early start so you can witness the breathtaking beauty of a Sahara sunrise – a truly unforgettable experience! After a delicious breakfast at the camp, we’ll begin our journey back towards Marrakech. We’ll be taking a different route this time, along the Ait Saouen road. This scenic path generally has less traffic and fewer major stops, allowing for a more relaxed drive. Please note that this will be a longer travel day, approximately 8 hours, but of course, we’ll be happy to make stops whenever you feel like stretching your legs or taking in the views.
