Itinerary:

Day 1: Marrakech to dades:
Day one of our 5-day desert adventure from Marrakech to Fes kicks off with a warm welcome and a pick-up from our meeting point in Marrakech. From there, we’ll begin our ascent, winding our way up the famous Tizi Ntichka pass – a stunning 200-kilometer stretch that climbs to a breathtaking 2260 meters! We’ll pause along the way at an Argan oil cooperative, where you can stretch your legs, see how they make this amazing oil used in cosmetics, and maybe even pick up a souvenir. Our journey then takes us through Telouet, past more beautiful kasbahs, and on to the incredible Ait Benhaddou. This UNESCO World Heritage site is truly a sight to behold, and you’ll quickly see why it’s so popular with travelers and filmmakers alike. You might even recognize it from famous movies and shows like Game of Thrones and Prison Break! Next, we’ll head to Ouarzazate, also known as Morocco’s “Ouallywood,” and visit the legendary Atlas Studios, where so many movies are filmed and where they rent out all the movie-making gear. We’ll grab some lunch in Ouarzazate before continuing our drive to the dramatic Dades Gorges, where we’ll settle in for the night, ready for more adventures tomorrow.
Day 2: Gorges Dades to Merzouga:
Day two of our 5-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour is all about heading towards the Sahara, but we’ve got some incredible sights to see along the way! Our first stop is the breathtaking Todra Gorge. As we drive through those beautiful valleys, get ready to be amazed by the towering Todra Canyons. We’ll stop here to stretch our legs and explore this natural wonder. With its soaring 300-meter cliffs, it’s easy to see why this is a paradise for climbers and photographers – the views are simply stunning! We’ll then continue our journey, passing through charming Berber villages, and we’ll stop for a delicious lunch in either Tinghir or Tinjedad. But the adventure doesn’t stop there! We’re heading to what many consider the highlight of any trip to Morocco: the majestic Merzouga desert. As we approach the dunes, you’ll have the chance to experience that classic Moroccan adventure – a camel ride! We’ll take our time, stopping to soak in the incredible scenery and watch the sun paint the desert in golden hues as it sets. Finally, we’ll arrive at our traditional Nomadic desert camp. As evening settles in, you’ll be treated to a delicious, authentic Moroccan dinner. And then, get ready for a magical night under the stars! Our camp hosts will gather around a crackling campfire, sharing stories and enchanting us with traditional Berber music and drumming.
Day 3: Merzouga desert tour:
Day three of our 5-day Marrakech to Fes desert tour is dedicated to truly exploring the heart of the Sahara and the people who call it home. Our journey begins with a visit to the Nomads, the original inhabitants of this land. You’ll get a unique glimpse into authentic Moroccan life and witness firsthand how Berber Nomads continue to uphold the country’s rich traditions. It’s a chance to connect with a culture that has thrived in this landscape for generations. As we journey through the desert, we’ll pause at the stunning viewpoint of “Galb El Nas” (which means “the people’s heart”). Here, you can take in a breathtaking panoramic view and truly appreciate the vastness and beauty of the Sahara’s golden dunes. We’ll then continue to M’Ifiss, where you’ll see the remnants of a former kohl mine, a relic of the French colonial era. Our adventure continues to Khamlia, where we’ll stop for lunch and immerse ourselves in the culture of the Gnawa people. These fascinating people, originally from Mali and Gabon, made Morocco their home and settled in various regions, including the one we’re exploring today. Prepare to be captivated by their unique music and mesmerizing dance performances. Finally, as the day winds down, we’ll explore more of the surrounding area, including the enchanting Oases of Hassi Labied, a vibrant contrast to the arid landscape and a true desert gem.
Day 4: The Sahara desert to Midelt:
As soon as you’ve had breakfast in your desert lodging, we’ll travel to Midelt. On our way there, we’ll stop at one of the largest traditional marketplaces in the south of Morocco, Rissani. Second, we’ll make a pit stop at Erfoud, where we’ll participate in fossil workshops. You’ll get the opportunity to see a variety of fossils that have been unearthed in the region. Our next stop is Ziz Valley, Morocco’s largest supplier of dates. Next, we’ll drive over the Ait Chakr hill and stop at one of Morocco’s greatest panoramic viewpoints, where you can see the Ziz Valley’s hundreds of palm trees from the top. In the following, we’ll continue our journey to Midelt. The dam at Errachidia is the next stop. One of the places set up by the government for the purpose of providing local residents with access to national water. In the evening, we will arrive in Midelt, where we will stay for the night and conclude our 5 days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.
Day 5: Midelt to Fes:
Day five of our 5-day Marrakech to Fes tour is a bit different – get ready to explore some of Morocco’s incredible royal history! We’ll start with a scenic drive through the Atlas Mountains, making a stop at the fascinating Cedar Forest, home to those playful Barbary macaques. Soon after, we’ll arrive in the magnificent city of Meknes, where our first visit will be to the serene Sahrij Souani, the city’s central lake. Then, we’ll stretch our legs and immerse ourselves in the heart of Meknes with a walking tour, taking in the vibrant Lhdim Square and the majestic Bab Mansour gate. But the history lesson doesn’t end there! We’ll then journey to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a short drive from Meknes. This UNESCO World Heritage site was once the capital of the ancient kingdom of Mauretania. Exploring these well-preserved ruins is like stepping back in time! Finally, as our 5-day adventure draws to a close, we’ll make our way to the captivating city of Fes, where you can reflect on all the incredible experiences and sights you’ve encountered on this journey through Morocco.
